Finally, regular season NHL hockey for the Minnesota Wild! Tonight the Wild kick off their 16th season in St. Louis at 7PM. Last season the Wild split the season series with the Blues 2-2-1 with the Blues winning the final two meetings.

St. Louis is coming off a big road win last night in Chicago 5-2, led by Vladamir Tarasenko's 2 goals and 1 assist performance. The Blues took advantage of 4 second period Chicago penalties, first to tie the game then to take the lead for good as they capitalized on 3 of the 4 powerplays.

The Wild are anxious to get going under new bench boss Bruce Boudreau. The mission is clear and it all starts anew tonight. The Wild roster has remained intact for the most part with the only new additions being free agent acquisitions Eric Staal and the return of Chris Stewart. That is not necessarily a bad thing though. This group has made the playoffs 4 straight seasons and now has a fresh lease on their hockey lives with the new coaching staff firmly in place.

The Wild have a strong group of veteran leaders with Mikko Koivu, Zach Parise, and Jason Pominville. The next gen is solid as well, but now is the time for them to take the lead for the Wild. Charlie Coyle, Jason Zucker, Nino Niederreiter, Mikael Granlund, and Erik Haula must step up their play on a more consistent level to take the Wild to the next level.

Not putting much stock in the back to back for the Blues being much of a factor as this is only game two, and the the game is in St. Louis. Either way the Wild need to be aware of Tarasenko a notorious Wild killer, and be ready for a tough Central Division battle from start to finish tonight.

No more waiting, it all begins tonight!
