Arbitration avoided with Mikael Granlund as he has agreed to a new three year deal that will pay him $5.25 million next season $5.5 million in 2018-19 and $6.5 million in 2019-20.

Coming off career highs with 26 goals and 69 points the 25 year old Granlund has establishes himself as the offensive star the Wild had envisioned when they drafted him with the 9th pick in 2010.

So now Chuck Fletcher has addressed his two biggest contracts, Niederreiter and Granlund, but still has some work left as Marcus Fologno is the last remaining RFA that needs a new deal.

An interesting side note but definitely worthy of a major note is the Niederreiter deal, and the fact that there is not a No-Trade clause included. Niederreiter stated that was not important to him and that if the Wild were unhappy with him l, he did not want to impede the progress of the team.

Very refreshing words from a pro athlete in the high dollar driven sports world of today.
