Good End to 5 Game Trip

Two wins to end the five game trip for the Wild and six big points in the standings.

Devan Dubnyk most certainly is carrying this team and in order for them to get to the upper echelon of the league the offense is going to have to generate and finish more scoring chances.

Eric Staal, Nino Neiderreiter, and Charlie Coyle are showing some very good chemistry and their cycling ability is creating very good scoring opportunities as well as sustained offensive zone pressure. The Wild has a whole though need to get more physical and become much tougher to play against.

Kurtis Gabriel has added some much needed toughness and added a nice assist tonight on the Chris Stewart breakaway goal. Tyler Graovac has got to start using his size more to his advantage.

GM Chuck Fletcher was on Leafs radio pregame show talking about the current state of the team. He was asked about the trade he orchestrated to bring in Devan Dubnyk two years back, and his comment was "I wouldn't be in this position had that move not been made." He also stated that he would like to add a scorer if he could. But the statement that he made that most alarmed me was that he said "we have made the playoffs four straight seasons, and one of these years, we are going to make a run."

One of these years? Hmmmm

I know that he needs to keep his words to a minimum and not divulge what is really going on, but come on, choose your words a little better than one of these years. He talked about the strong fan base in Minnesota and how knowledgeable they are and how they are ntot at fooled by the product on the ice. That is great Chuck, so tell them you are in it to win it, period!
