The Ducks hit the Xcel tonight as they close out their six game road trip that has not been very kind to them (1-3-1), dropping their overall road record to .500. Anaheim is coming off a very tough loss to the NHL leading Washington Capitals that saw them erase a Caps two goal lead third period lead only to surrender a late goal and an empty netter in the 6-4 defeat.

The Wild have taken both of the previous meetings with the Ducks, including their last visit to St. Paul 5-3 on January 21st.

The Wild will be without Matt Dumba again along with Jonas Brodin, who is back skating with the team and is not far off from returning. The injuries to the blueline are allowing Bruce Boudreau the luxury of seeing how some of his depth defensemen can perform.

The season is a grind and the fact that the Wild have been able to thrive with contributions from throughout the lineup will serve the team well as the season wears on.

The Wild have recalled once again Alex Tuch and Zach Mitchell, at the expense of Tyler Graovac who was put on waivers yesterday, in the attempt to send him back down to Iowa.

Tonight will be another good test for the Wild as they play host to the Ducks who play a big boy brand of hockey led by Ryan Getzlaf, Corey Perry, and everyone's favorite villain, Ryan Kessler. The Duck defense corps is solid top to bottom and very similar to the Wild D, they are active and very mobile.

Another chance for the Wild to put more distance between themselves and the idle second place Blackhawks tonight. No gimme here and there really never is in today's NHL, but a big opportunity none the less for the Wild to make yet another statement in the wide open Western Conference.

It's Always Hockey Day in The State of Hockey!
