When the Panthers signed James Reimer this offseason, it looked like he might be the starter for the season as Roberto Luongo was recovering from hip surgery.

Early reports were he might miss the first month of the season, which was a little unsettling for the natives. Past seasons have shown how critical it is to get off to a quick start instead of having to climb a mountain of teams late in the season. Having your #1 netminder out for the first dozen games might not be the best situation for the start this team needs.

Reimer is a great fall back but Luongo is coming off an excellent year and is one of the vital leaders on this team both on and off the ice. He has unbelievably cut two months off of his recovery time, and he discusses how he is feeling and the process he has endured below. Thanks to George Richards of the Miami Herald for the footage.
