During a media conference call with Tom Rowe, Dale Tallon, and others this afternoon more info was discussed regarding the firing of Gerard Gallant last night after Florida's 3-2 loss in Carolina.

1) The pictures taken of Gallant and Mike Kelly on the street waiting for a cab were taken out of context. The team arranged for a car service to take them to the airport and Rowe was with them outside. It was their choice to not wait on the car and cab it on their own. Rowe and the Panthers felt terrible about how it looked on social media but the reality was they did not "kick them to the curb" in any way and made every effort to take care of their transport.

2) No other front office changes are expected.

3) Dale Tallon said he is "happy and satisfied" with his role in the organization.

4) Gallant was not completely opposed to what the Panthers are doing from an analytical perspective, but definitely wanted to get bigger. This was the crux of the philosophical differences that led to the breakup.

5) The decision to fire Gallant was made after the loss to the 3-1 home loss to the Flyers on November 22nd.

6) Rowe will be completely focused on coaching, leaving the personnel decisions to Tallon, Assistant GMs Eric Joyce and Steve Weirer.

7) No other coaches were considered.

8) Rowe's first order of business will be to attack the defensive zone scheme to clean it up.

9) Analytics are not the only factor in how the Panthers are assembling their roster, Rowe said, and one would be a fool not to listen to other people's opinions regardless of where they were coming from. It's up to the staff to digest those opinions and see if and how those ideas might work for the team. Moving forward that type of open-mindedness will be the approach.
