That Will Teach Them

The Islanders head down to south Florida tonight to take on the Florida Panthers for the second consecutive game. Puck drop is at 7:30 PM. New York has lost three straight all by the score of 2-1. After Wednesday’s lost to the Panthers a despondent head coach Jack Capuano lit into the team in the postgame presser. He vowed that there would be changes tonight and he called out some “veterans.”

So after this stern warning to the team the only change tonight is rookie Anthony Beauvillier returns to the lineup in place of Shane Prince. THAT will teach ‘em to mess with Captain Jack! Beauvillier will center a line that will feature the unscratchable men of Alan Quine and Jason Chimera. Also Brock Nelson will center a line that will feature Ryan Strome and Andrew Ladd. That’s should be called the Jon Cena line because “WE CAN’T SEE THEM.”

Seriously Jack that is the best you can do? Noel Fogleman said it best to me this morning. “Cappy is like the parent that threatens groundings but buys them all ice cream instead.” All of these words have zero meaning when the men in charge don’t have the intestinal fortitude to make the right decision and scratch a Ladd or a Chimera.

So we will get another ride on the merry-go-round of excuses tonight and probably get a similar result. The only bright spot is Thomas Greiss who will return to the net tonight and he has been fantastic in his last four starts. If you have something better to do tonight than watching this dumpster fire, then by all means do it.
