If you're chomping at the bit for news on Bo Horvat's next contract, Ben Kuzma of The Province does his best to lay things out for you.

For the moment, it sounds like nothing is imminent—and that Canucks management has other priorities.

Cory Wilkins at The Score has the complete arbitration schedule. Michael Chaput is up first for the Canucks, on July 21, and Reid Boucher's hearing is scheduled for August 1.

The sides are free to reach agreements anytime before the decisions from the hearings are announced. In most cases, deals get done before the hearing takes place—as we saw yesterday with Tyler Johnson and the Tampa Bay Lightning. Johnson was scheduled to lead off the arbitration hearings next week on July 20 but he has now inked a new seven-year deal.

In terms of deadlines, the Canucks will need to deal with Chaput and Boucher first, then Gaunce. Then, I'd assume they'll turn their attention to locking down Horvat.

Next item for today—it has now been officially announced that the Canucks second-round draft pick, Kole Lind, has been added to the roster for the World Junior Summer Showcase later this month.

Speaking of prospects, if you haven't watched them yet, these videos from Development Camp are worth your time.

First, we have Manny Malhotra mic'd up behind the bench of Team White during the Summer Showdown game.

I really like how engaged he is with the players—having dialogues and asking questions, rather than just barking instructions. Once again, the confidence of Elias Pettersson stands out, too. Seems like the young Swede thinks the game extremely well.

Travis Green spoke to Rick Dhaliwal of News1130 on Monday, and Pettersson was one of the topics that came up:

Green also gave us a bit of a glimpse into how he sees the goaltending situation shaking down next season:

I'm glad to hear that this is officially the plan. Let the big guys battle for starts!

Also just posted—director of player development Ryan Johnson shares his thoughts on Development Camp:

Two things in particular stood out to me in this interview:

• Johnson emphasizes that the focus of last week's camp is on player development, not evaluation. Last week was about providing tools for the players to get better—not for them to be showing their stuff to the Canucks brass.

• Johnson played for five teams during his 701-game NHL career and spent just two seasons in Vancouver—2008-09 and 2009-10. But he chose to come to Vancouver—signing as an unrestricted free agent during the summer of 2008—and of the 29 playoff games he played during his career, 14 of those came in Vancouver.

Part of a team on the rise during his time in Vancouver, Johnson battled injuries and I don't remember him being a particular fan favourite.

It's interesting to hear him talk about what those years meant to him and how those feelings led him back here, to work with the team in management.

Johnson has risen quickly through the ranks since signing on as a player development consultant back in October of 2013. He was promoted to his current position in September of 2016.
