Per Andy Strickland's twitter update... Alex Goligoski gets $1.25, $1.5, $2.75 for the next three years in Pittsburgh. (Year by year breakdown...)

There is the 1.2 mil I was hearing in his first year...

The Pittsburgh Post Gazette is reporting that the Go Go contract will pay him $1,833,333 per season... $5.5 over the life of the deal.

As I sent out on Twitter earlier...the Penguins have signed Alex Goligoski to a three year deal. It will be interesting to see how this effects the Penguins defensive free agents. Go Go could step in and be a regular contributor next season, as he was early this season. His emergence could push some one like Hal Gill out of the door. We will see how this shakes out.

One thing is certain, the Penguins consider him to be a valuable piece of their future and are thrilled to have locked him up.

“Alex is a skilled young defenseman and a tremendous skater, and we are pleased to sign him to a multi-year deal as we continue to build our young core,” Ray Shero said. “He gained some valuable experience this season and made contributions to our Stanley Cup run. He is another example of a great future here in Pittsburgh.”

It is looking like he received an increase on his 08-09 salary and will make something in the range of 1.2 mil per. That is unconfirmed at this time...

Goligoski, 23, was the third-leading scorer among NHL rookie defensemen in 2008-09 with 20 points in 45 games (6-14-20). He appeared in two games in the Stanley Cup playoffs, recording one assist.
