Canadiens Suffer Setback Against Leafs, Price Healthy, Lindgren To AHL

The youth movement suffered its first real setback last game against the rival Maple Leafs as the Canadiens were shut out 4-0 by C McElhinney and the Leafs.

What a disappointment this game was for the Habs and their fans alike. A Leafs squad missing its best F (Matthews) and #1 goalie in F Andersen pretty much had a free skate against the young Canadiens.

I mean, when McElhinney is posting a goose egg against your team it’s look in the mirror time. It’s time to make a decision if you are a professional or not. It’s time to remember that all that cash you make, and specialty meals and facilities you enjoy are not free, but paid for by us common folk that occupy the stands and pay for services to watch you from our home.

It’s time to remember who cheers for you to win and who has invested lots of their hard earned cash in your performances. If they decided to pack it in an mail in the rest of their season then so be it, but I will assure you that I personally will not buy another Canadiens themed anything if that happens.

I will tune out.

I will close my wallet.

I will follow the Winnipeg Jets.

I will continue this until the team of overpaid adults playing a kids game wearing the CH remember that they play for us too, because we pay them to do so. We cheer them on and put them on pedestals that helps them get endorsement deals for hamburgers, hockey sticks, and autograph sessions.

Without people like you and me this team can become the Islanders or Panthers and their careers will not be as lucrative as they could be.

This team should be reminded of this after last game where the only guy who really showed any sense of pride and killer instinct was between the pipes keeping the game from being a laugher. Oh, and Lindgren’s reward for making sure his teammates, who gave up on him, didn’t get a touchdown and 3 point kick put up on them was being sent to Laval at reduced pay.

Look hard in that mirror Montreal Canadiens players…

CAREY PRICE IS BACK AND HEALTHY, BUT NOT STARTING TONIGHT

The only good news from Lindgren’s demotion is that Claude Julien has confirmed Carey Price is back to full health.

Despite that though, he stated that the crease belongs to Niemi tonight against the surging Panthers, who are 7-2-1 in their last 10 and 5 points out of 8th with 3 games in hand.

I know most of us, me included, have stated that the Habs best chances to win in the future should have them lose as many games as they can now. I do agree with this sentiment and my readers know my feelings already on some of the top prospects in this draft and where the Habs need to remain, standings wise, for them to really pick up a potential impact player.

But…

There can’t be efforts like the one against the Leafs again. That was terrible, they might as well have conceded the game instead of embarrassing themselves with that effort. After such battles against the Stars and Penguins they roll over for a depleted Leafs team in TO??? Unacceptable and it may have erased a lot of good they were building.

These young players need to realize nothing is given for free in the NHL and they have to realize the Canadiens are decimated by injuries which has given them a golden opportunity to prove themselves. They can lose and still have played good hockey, happens all the time in the NHL due to Bush League Officiating standards alone. But when you’re trying to build a career and have a national stage you can’t wilt, that’s a one way ticket back to Laval or some other teams AHL/ECHL squad.

Just. Can’t. Happen.

Wake up, look in the mirror, come back hard for the remainder. Then you can have all summer to sulk about the events of this season.

BIG GAMES AHEAD FOR CANADIENS OF THE FUTURE IN THE NCAA

I know March Madness is in full swing for all you basketball nuts out there, and it definitely has been an entertaining tournament so far, but make sure you’re following the hockey side of NCAA sports.

The Montreal Canadiens have R Poehling (St Cloud State), J Evans (Notre Dame), H Hawkey (Providence), and 18 Goaltender C Primeau (Northeastern U) participating in the 2018 NCAA Men's Hockey Tournament, featuring 16 teams and starts with regional action next week in the United States.

Poehling, Evans, and Hawkey competed in their respective divisions for conference titles but only J Evans emerged a winner as his 2 assist effort helped Notre Dame to a Big Ten Championship over Ohio State.

Poehling scored the lone goal for St Cloud State in their 4-1 loss and H Hawkey allowed only 1 goal in Providence’s 2-0 loss.

So keep a close eye on the Canadiens future this upcoming week, it may just cheer you up.

***NOTE: Thanks for all your patience while I try to write and stage and sell my home. It’s our first time selling a house and the process is…. upsetting. I’ll keep doing my best to come up with entertaining (hopefully) opinions on all things Canadiens through the process and I’m working to create a certain timeframe for future showings so that I can have a proper schedule to get things done in my personal life. ***

Go Habs Go
