Happy 150th Birthday Canada!

I can't tell you how fortunate I feel to not only be born in North America but in this great country of Canada. I love this country!

Alright, onto business.

So far today we have many reports that Alzner to Montreal is done at around 4.5 million by 5 years. We will see if that's confirmed at noon today! If it is legit I'm obviously a fan of the deal (prefaced by my last article about UFA's). He replaces Emelin, is infinitely more durable, and better defensively.

Update: 12:05 pm, Alzner to the Canadiens. 4.625 million by 5 years. As per Bob Mackenzie. TV Interview with Alzner reveals He believes he will be paired with Weber or Petry. Happy to be a Hab. Great add to the top 4.

Look, no slight to Emelin. I really enjoyed him as a Hab but it's time to move one.

Update: 12:44 pm, Byron Froese signed to a 2 year deal, two way, as per Habs twitter. $575k per year.

Update: 12:47 pm, Peter Holland signed to 2 year deal, as per Habs twitter. $575k per year. 2 way first year.

Update: 1:52 pm, Matt Taormina signed to 2 years, 2 way deal, Habs Twitter.

Speaking of moving on there's been no concrete news on Markov and Radulov....
*Update: Radulov and Markov have received final offers from the Canadiens. As per John Lu, TSN.

Update: 2:13 pm. Renaud Lavoie tweets Markov deal not expected to happen today.

Update: 3:01 pm. Joe Morrow signed to 1 year, 1 way deal. As per Habs twitter

***UPDATE: GM Marc Bergevin will not speak to the media until 3pm tomorrow, expect the unexpected***

3:30 pm. My updates will be intermittent as I have some obligations to attend to this afternoon. Happy Canada Day everyone, be safe out there!

I'll provide more in depth analysis later tonight or tomorrow on any Habs signings!

I'll be updating the blog throughout the day so check back while enjoying your Canada Day festivities. And for our US friends reading, you can be honorary Canadians today so crack one of your watered down beers and cheers to another 150 years of being great neighbours!
