UPDATE - According to Preds radio play by play man Tom Callahan the Preds will start Pekka Rinne in net tonight. Also, he stated that Jones will play on a line with Dumont and Legwand. That line placement is very nice to hear.

The fans of Pred nation rejoice. They finally got off their hands and got active.

Ryan Jones has been recalled from the Admirals.

As I stated last night on Hockeybuzz Radio, there was no reason to give a player at least 1 game up here to try and spark the offense. The Admirals don't play again till Thursday, Nichol is a week away from practicing, and Sullivan is slated to return at the end of the week. Even if the stint is just one game, I'm satisfied that they tried something.

So, what has Ryan Jones done since we last saw him? Well, in his 21 games with the Ads he has 17 points (11g-6a) and 26 PIMS. The red hot Admirals have gone 16-4-1 while Jones was on their roster.

The key here is to insert him into the lineup, which forces another forward to be sat down. That sends a message to the other guys that there are no free passes, so get it together or other guys will play.

Regardless of this fixes the offense and causes more scoring or not, I'm just happy they tried. Even if it fails and they still struggle I can no longer complain about the complacencey this team appeared to have shown the past week.

See you at the rink tonight and don't forget if you missed the show last night with David Freeman you can check out the podcast later today. Just click on the link below.

Take care.
