With the Western Conference Semifinal series between Lindy Ruff's Dallas Stars and Ken Hitchcock's St. Louis Blues knotted at one game apiece, the scene shifts to St. Louis on Tuesday for Game Three. Game time is 8:30 p.m. CDT. The game will be televised on NBC Sports Network.
In Game Two, the Blues' Patrik Berglund, Joel Edmundson and Troy Brouwer (power play) broke through for three goals on five shots against Kari Lehtonen after Dallas' Alex Goligoski opened the scoring. Lehtonen was replaced by Antti Niemi (19 saves on 20 shots) after the first period.
The score held at 3-1 Blues before the Stars pushed back for third period markers by Mattias Janmark and Jamie Benn to force overtime. David Backes' power play goal at the 10:58 mark made the Blues the 4-3 winners. Brian Elliott stopped 31 of 34 shots.
St. Louis went 2-for-5 on the power play. The Stars went 0-for-4.
Both Tyler Seguin (Achilles tendon injury) and Patrick Eaves (leg) skated on Monday, However, neither is expected to accompany the team to St. Louis. One or both among Curtis McKenzie and/or Brett Ritchie could get into the lineup in Game 3 or Game 4. For St. Louis, former Stars forward Steve Ott is expected to remain a healthy scratch in favor of Ryan Reaves.
