Looking even up their record on the early season, Ken Hitchcock's Dallas Stars (2-3-0) return to action on Tuesday night as they play host to Rick Tocchet's Arizona Coyotes (0-4-1) in the front end of a home-and-home set. The teams will rematch in Glendale on Thursday at Gila River Arena.

Tuesday's game time at the American Airlines Center is 7:30 p.m. CDT. The game will be televised on Fox Sports Southwest.

This is the first of three meetings this season between the Western Conference clubs, and the lone meeting in Dallas. Last season, the Stars swept the season series with the Coyotes, earning a 3-2 road regulation win (Dec. 27), a 5-2 home win (Feb. 24) and 3-2 in overtime at home (April 4) on Julius Honka's first NHL game.

Overall, the Stars have won nine straight games at home against the Coyotes.

Dallas enters this game coming off a 3-1 home win against the Colorado Avalanche. Tyler Seguin led the way for the Stars, compiling his first career Gordie Howe Hat Trick on an early second period assist, a buzzer-beating second period power play goal and a third period fight with former Stars teammate Patrik Nemeth. Stars captain Jamie Benn (one goal, one assist) also enjoyed a multi-point game. Esa Lindell added a late empty netter for his first goal of the 2017-18 season and seventh in his young NHL career.

Ben Bishop earned the win in goal for Dallas, stopping 22 of 23 shots, yielding only an early third period tally by Matt Duchene (third goal of the season).

A healthy scratch last game, Jamie Oleksiak may re-enter the Stars' lineup on Tuesday, per Sean Shapiro's Twitter.

The Coyotes are the final winless team in the NHL this season. The club is coming off a miserable week last week.

First, Arizona absorbed a 5-2 road loss to the first-year expansion Vegas Knights last Tuesday. The Coyotes yielded four goals within the opening 11 minutes of the game. That was followed by a 4-2 home loss to the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday and a 6-2 home shellacking at the hands of the Boston Bruins.

After the Boston game, Tocchet said he was "kind of embarrassed for the fans" and pledged that, if it means getting in the faces of the players on young team or being more of a disciplinarian-type coach, he will do so moving forward. Through their first five games, the Coyotes have scored 11 goals while yielding 22.
