* The Flyers announced their 2016 preseason schedule. Once again, the slate opens with split-squad games; this time with both on the road against the New Jersey Devils and New York Islanders.

Monday, September 26 New Jersey Prudential Center 7:00
NY Islanders Barclays Center 7:00
Tuesday, September 27 NY Islanders Wells Fargo Center 7:00
Wednesday, September 28 New Jersey PPL Center 7:00
(Allentown, PA)
Saturday, October 1 Boston Wells Fargo Center 7:00
Monday, October 3 NY Rangers Wells Fargo Center 7:00
Thursday, October 6 NY Rangers Madison Sq. Garden 7:00
Saturday, October 8 Boston TD Garden 5:00

* Flyers general manager Ron Hextall reported on Tuesday that the hip/sports hernia repair surgeries for both Claude Giroux and Shayne Gostisbehere were successful.

* On the Flyers' official website, Steve Coates interviewed Wayne Simmonds about the team's progress and his performance during the 2015-16 season as he hit the 30-goal milestone for the first time in his career.

* Phantoms defenseman Christian Marti played sparing (8:17 over 11 shifts) in Switzerland's 5-4 loss to the Czech Republic at the 2016 IIHF World Championships. The Swiss failed to qualify for the medal round this year, so their tourney is over. Ditto Team France, featuring Flyers center Pierre-Edouard Bellemare. The quarterfinals will see the winner of Czech Republic vs. USA play the winner of Canada vs. Sweden in one semifinal, while the other semi, barring a big upset, will pit Finland (playing Denmark in the quarters) against tournament host Russia (playing Germany in the quarters).

* The 2016 Flyers Alumni Golf Invitational is slated for July 18 at the Philadelphia Cricket Club. The event will raise money for the Flyers Alumni Association, Flyers Charities and BLOCS. The Golf Invitational will offer a round of golf, lunch, cocktail reception and dinner program.

Subject to changes and additions, the following Flyers Alumni -- widely representing every decade of team history -- will be attending: Ray Allison, Bill Barber, Frank Bathe, Craig Berube, Brian Boucher, Jesse Boulerice, Danny Briere, Terry Carkner, Lindsay Carson, Jeff Chychrun, Bob Clarke, Bill Clement, Steve Coates, Riley Cote, Doug Crossman, Barry Dean, Eric Desjardins, Moose Dupont, Doug Favell, Todd Fedoruk, Ross Fitzpatrick, Mark Freer, Larry Goodenough, TJ Gorence, Paul Holmgren, Ed Hospodar, Mark Howe, Kerry Huffman, Bob Kelly, Tim Kerr, Orest Kindrachuk, Mike Knuble, Ian Laperriere, Mitch Lamoureaux, Neil Little, Brad Marsh, Phil Myre, Bernie Parent, Dave Poulin, Brian Propp, Chris Pronger, Luke Richardson, Don Saleski, Dave Schultz (attending but not golfing), Ilkka Sinisalo, Derrick Smith, and Joe Watson.
