In a 48-hour period, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms went from looking forward to a potential deep run in the Calder Cup playoffs to a potential quick elimination as they lost 1-0 in overtime on Friday at the PPL Center and followed it up with a 5-4 regulation home loss on Saturday after holding a 2-1 lead at the first intermission and a 4-2 edge heading into the third period.

OS(two saves on four shots) in the net. The winning Hershey goal, Chris Bourque's second of the third period, came with just 33 seconds remaining in the third period.

For the second straight game, the Phantoms won the territorial play and shot disparity (34-17). They won the special teams battle (2-for-4 on the power play, 3-for-3 on the penalty kill). Ultimately, though, they lost again where it mattered: the scoreboard.

In a losing cause, Greg Carey (1st, 2nd) scored twice and chipped in an assist for the Phantoms while T.J. Brennan and Andy Miele scored once apiece. For Hershey, Stanislav Galiev, Christian Djoos and Tyler Lewington supplemented Bourque's two-goal effort. Veteran goaltender Phoenix Copley stopped 30 of 34 shots he faced.

Lyon had to exit the game shortly after the Bears cut the gap to 4-3. He appeared to injure his right knee or leg in a scramble around the net, going down awkwardly. He battled to get a glove on the puck as play moved in front but then left the game. He underwent an MRI on Sunday. The goalie is out for the rest of the series at least. Anthony Stolarz has already been ruled out for the duration of the postseason due to a lower-body injury suffered on the final weekend of the regular season. As a result, the Phantoms will either have to press 18-year-old prospect Carter Hart into service to make his pro debut in a playoff elimination game or else go with ECHL callup netminder Ouellete.

The Phantoms will try to stave off elimination and force a fourth game as the series shifts to Hershey on Wednesday. Game time is 7:00 p.m. EDT.
