1) IIHF World Championships: Team France defeated Germany, 3-2 via shootout, in its opening game at the 2016 IIHF World Championships in Russia. Pierre-Edouard Bellemare centered the top line for coach Dave Henderson's squad, skating 19:34 over 27 shifts. He was minus-one with two shots on goal. Winger Damien Fleury, Bellemare's linemate (and a former linemate of the Flyers' Matt Read when he played in Sweden during the 2012-13 NHL lockout) scored the winning shootout goal.

2) QMJHL President Cup Final: Friday night's suspended Game Two of the President Cup final resumed on late Saturday afternoon with the host Rouyn-Noranda Huskies leading 2-1 over the Shawinigan Cataractes. The Huskies went on to win the game, 4-1. Flyers defense prospect Philippe Myers did not record a point. He was plus-one with three shots and two credited hits. Game Three is scheduled for Sunday in Shawinigan with Rouyn-Noranda leading the series two games to zero.

3) WHL Final: The Brandon Wheat Kings earned a 3-2 overtime victory over the Seattle Thunderbirds in Game Two of the WHL Final -- the same score and result of Game One -- on Saturday night. Flyers 2015 first-round pick Ivan Provorov assisted on Brandon's first goal (shorthanded by Nolan Patrick) and was plus-one for the game. After a scoreless first period, the teams traded off closely spaced goals early in the second period. The Wheat Kings briefly trailed 2-1 in the third period as well. On an attempting centering that deflected home in front of the net, Jayce Hawryluk scored the OT winner for Kelly McCrimmon's team.

4) On the Flyers' official site, Shayne Gostisbehere talks about his Calder Trophy nominated rookie season. The player admitted that when he first got called up in November, he did not expect the recall to last for the rest of season but things clicked into place quickly for him and for the team.

5) Today in 1980, the Flyers blew out the Minnesota North Stars, 7-3, to close out the Stanley Cup semifinals in five games to earn Philadelphia its fourth trip to the Stanley Cup Final in seven years but first since 1976.
