PREVIEW (9:30 AM)

The Flyers have played two strong games in a row but absolutely cannot afford a letdown tonight if they are to hold on to one of the final playoff spots in the Eastern Conference. Throughout this maddening season, the club has both shown the ability to compete at a high level and to get outworked by much less talented opponents. Philly still has its fate in its own hands, but the club has to show the same sort of moxie it displayed in beating Chicago, New Jersey and Detroit -- the only three truly superlative efforts the club has turned in down the stretch.

One aspect that has been going right of late, even with the club battling inconsistency in other areas, has been the penalty kill. The Flyers have been outstanding in that department of late. In addition, the club has been getting clutch efforts from its role players as it fights for a playoff spot. Now it's time for Mike Richards and/or Daniel Briere in particular to step up and elevate this team into the playoffs.

Brian Boucher had an uneven game against Detroit. It's no secret that he struggles with preventable rebounds, but so did Michael Leighton. For the most part, the club did a better job cleaning up Leighton's rebounds than it has for Boucher. While Boucher has unquestionably allowed weaker goals than Leighton, he's also had less goal support with which to work. On Sunday, he and the team responded well after Detroit cut the deficit to one goal in the third period.
