PREVIEW: FLYERS @ FLAMES

Kicking off a three-game road trip through western Canada, Dave Hakstol's Philadelphia Flyers (27-22-7) are in Alberta to take on Glen Gulutzan's Calgary Flames (28-26-3) on Wednesday afternoon. Game time at the Saddledome is 9:30 p.m. ET. The game will be televised locally on CSN Philadelphia.

This is the second and final meeting this season between the inter-conference teams, and the lone game in Calgary. On Nov. 27 at the Wells Fargo Center, the Flyers skated to a 5-3 win.

Flyers Outlook

The Flyers have gone 2-3-1 since the All-Star break. The team salvaged a 2-2-1 homestand on Saturday with a 2-1 overtime victory against the San Jose Sharks. Wayne Simmonds notched the game winning goal on a breakaway after stripping Brent Burns of the puck. Ivan Provorov snapped a scoreless deadlock in the third period to briefly put Philadelphia ahead, 1-0. Michal Neuvirth stopped 23 of 24 shots to earn the win in goal.

On the injury front, the Flyers may have defenseman Michael Del Zotto (right leg) back in the lineup. He is at least available for duty, and could step back into replace one of the other defensemen. Rookie forward Travis Konecny (lower-body injury), who is expected to be out until mid-to-late March, is on the injured reserve list.

Flames Outlook

The Flames bring a 14-14-0 home record into Wednesday's game and are 4-6-0 in their last 10 games. On Monday, the Flames could not solve Mike Smith on 36 shots and lost 5-0 to the visiting Arizona Coyotes.

Johnny Gaudreau was demoted to the fourth line by Gulutzan during Monday's game after a costly turnover on a low-percentage play. However, it unlikely the change will carry over. Brian Elliott is the expected starter in goal.

On the injury front, Ladislav Smid is on long-term injured reserve after multiple neck surgeries.
