MELTZER'S MUSINGS: APRIL 26, 2016

* The Flyers will conduct internal exit interviews and player media availability at the Skate Zone in Voorhees, NJ on what they had hoped would instead be the day leading up to Game 7 of their Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series with the Washington Capitals. Interviews will go on throughout the day, roughly from noon to 5 p.m. EDT.

Flyers general manager Ron Hextall will hold a season wrapup press conference on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. EDT. The end-of-season injury list will be among the issues discussed.

* Flyers forward Brayden Schenn will have a phone hearing today for his hit on T.J. Oshie in Game 6 of the series. Once the league announces a hearing, a suspension almost always follows (I can only think of a couple times when it did not). Whatever suspension follows will have to be served at the beginning of the 2016-17 regular season.

* The Flyers will pick either 17th or 18th in the first round of the 2016 NHL Draft. Their spot will be determined by whether the Nashville Predators win or lose Game 7 of their series with the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday night. If the Predators win, Philly picks 17th overall in the first round.

With the Chicago Blackhawks exiting in the first round, the Flyers will also pick a little higher in the second round with one of the selections acquired in last year's Kimmo Timonen trade. Likewise, the 2016 third-round pick acquired from the LA Kings in trade that sent Luke Schenn and Vincent Lecavalier to Los Angeles will also bump up a few spots because the Kings lost in the first round.

* It remains to be seen how many Flyers players will be going to the 2016 IIHF World Championships now that their NHL playoff runs have ended. Reports surfaced yesterday that Hockey Canada had interest in Claude Giroux, Brayden Schenn and Wayne Simmonds; all of whom have participated in the past.

* WHL Playoffs: The Brandon Wheat Kings, featuring Flyers 2015 first-round pick Ivan Provorov held serve on home ice in the first two games of their WHL playoff semifinal series with the Red Deer Rebels. Game Three is Tuesday night in Red Deer. In 13 playoff games to date, Provorov has compiled 10 points offensively (three goals, seven assists, plus-14), taken just three minor penalties despite playing a physical brand of hockey and has gotten better in each successive round after an average start to the first-round series against the Edmonton Oil Kings.

* QMJHL Playoffs: The Rouyn-Noranda Huskies (Philippe Myers) are tied 1-1 with the Moncton Wildcats in their semifinal playoff series while the St. John Sea Dogs (Samuel Dove-McFalls) are knotted 1-1 with the Shawinigan Cataractes. Both series resume on Tuesday. Defenseman Myers has eight points (one goal, seven assists, plus-seven) and 10 penalty minutes in 11 playoff games. He was not at his best in Game of the series, like most of the Huskies players. Checking center Dove-McFalls, who lost much of the regular season to a knee injury, has five points (four goals, one assist, minus-three) and has impressively won 54.9 percent of his faceoffs in 14 playoff games to date. Dove-McFalls scored a goal in the series opener.

* The Flyers ECHL affiliate, the Reading Royals, face a Game 7 in the Kelly Cup Playoffs on Tuesday night. The eighth-seeded Royals will be on the road for the deciding game against the top-ranked Toledo Walleye (Detroit Red Wings/ Grand Rapids Griffins affiliate). Brandon Alderson, who has not developed as hoped at the AHL level over the last two season is unlikely to be re-signed by the Flyers organization this summer, has scored six goals in the series. Other Royals with Flyers and/or Phantoms affiliations this season include Jesper Pettersson, Kevin Goumas, Maxim Lamarche, Nick Luukko, Kevin Sundher and goalie Martin Ouellette.
