The Trade Deadline in the OHL is set for 5:00 on Sunday and Niagara Ice Dogs D-man Alex Pietrangelo is expected to accept a trade to a contending team.

Yes, even elite CHL kids have no-trade clauses in their contracts.

The Barrie Colts have the most to offer in a trade in terms of prospects going the other way. The Colts have also enjoyed a pretty nice season that includes a 22 game winning streak earlier in the year. At this time the Colts appear to be the frontrunner in acquiring the former 4th overall selection.

Other clubs that could show some interest include Windsor, London, Kitchener, and St. Mike's.

Pietrangelo, who was notified he'd return to the OHL after last night's gold medal loss to USA, will return to St. Louis today before evaluating his future in the OHL.

He will obviously remain property of the St. Louis Blues following a trade.

Pietrangelo was excellent throughout the tournament fo Canada and was awarded the best D-man in the tourney.

Rink Rats!

Word is Blues forward T.J. Oshie, Colorado Goaltender Craig Anderson, Buffalo forward Jason Pominville, and Montreal forward Brian Gionta have all been named alternates fro Team USA in the upcoming Olympics.

Blues Clues!

Paul Kariya skated on his own Tuesday morning for the first time since suffering a concussion against Buffalo on December 27th. He did make the west coast trip with the team.

Keith Tkachuk did not make the trip after taking a puck in the mouth on January 2nd. He is expected to skate on his own this week.

Ty Conklin stayed back as well after his 5 year old son broke his leg Monday night. There is a chance Conklin joins the Blues on the trip but will skate with Tkachuk in St. Louis in the meantime.

David Payne spoke to Owner Dave Checketts Monday night for the first time since being named interim Head Coach.

Andy Murray tells me he was hurt by the comments made by Blues forward Cam Janssen.

Janssen told me Monday morning he doesn't want to have a reputation of being a guy that shoots off his mouth and obviously isn't looking to burn any bridges. Janssen said he would be calling Murray to smooth things over.

At this time the Blues have not asked Murray to remain with the club in a different capacity.

There will be a celebrity roast of Kelly Chase at the Sheraton Westport Chalet on February 10th. Ringside table of 10 goes for $2,500. Regular table of 10 is $1,500. E-mail Bruce Affleck at baffleck@stlblues for more information

Former Big Leaguers Mark Grace and Rick Suttcliffe along with Garth Butcher are expected to participate in the roasting of Chase.

Barret Jackman returned to practice Tuesday after missing a day with the flu.

Davis Payne earned a degree in Biology from Michigan Tech University.

He is also best friends with Pittsburgh Coach Dan Bylsma as the two of them were in each other's weddings.

Payne played in the minors with Philadelphia coach Peter Laviolette who was once rumored to replace Murray in St. Louis.

Murray will return to St. Louis to pack up his things and officially move out of St. Louis.

Blues broadcaster Bernie Federko used to broadcast IHL games back in the day with JP Dellacamera who recently did the WJC games on the NHL Network.

I'll be talking pucks tonight on XM radio between 5-6 st.Louis time.

Chicago forward Jonathan Toews was so exhausted following his bout with David Backes last week, he lost his luch twice in the penalty box.

The Blues have to be very excited about the play of John Rammage who was a major part of the USA Gold Medal winning team. Look for St. Louis to look real hard at drafting this kid in June.

More to come,
