KHL's Avangard Omsk wanted to sign a one-day (single game) contract with the legendary Czech forward Jaromir Jagr so he could finish his career with a team he used to play in the league, but they decided to not allow to do that.

''We had an idea to invite Jagr to Omsk, so he could play another game with us, before he would end his playing career'' said Team President Maxim Sushinsky.

It's important to note that leagues rules don't allow teams to sign one-game contracts with players.

''In this situation, we didn't break any rules. It's also important to note that we didn't receive an official request from anyone expressing such interest'' said the KHL President Dmitry Chernishenko.

While it's unclear when Czech legend would retire it appears as the Omsk team had a serious interest in giving Jagr a well-deserved farewell from hockey.

Jagr is expected to spend 2018/2019 season playing for Czech Team that he owns - HC Kladno and has no intention to retire anytime soon.

Jagr spend two stints with Avangard during 2004/2005 season and later re-joined them while taking a break from the NHL from 2008 to 2011.
