Team Canada came out for the game ready to begin preparations for the Olympic Games in Korea. At the same time, Sochi conducted the second game for 24 hours.

While hosts could complain about fatigue, they can't blame it all on it. Canada searched for their chances in attack, but was amazing in their own zone, especially on the penalty kill. Immediately Canadians tried to play the pressure and not let the opponents have any use of the free of ice. For 40 minutes neither of the teams could score, although the chances for it were more than enough. Goalies stood on their heads, and even Brandon Kozun had his chance on a penalty shot but zeros on the scoreboard did not disappear. In the final segment of the game ''Sochi'' took over the charge on the ice, including many scoring chances, but Justin Peters rescued his team and did not allow Cats to score.

In the end, the match got its 3on3, 5 minute OT. Towards the end of which Jesse Blacker put the nail in the coffin. After winning the face-off Justin Azevedo was quick to get back to Blacker who was in front of the net and beat Barulin high blocker side.

After the game in presser head coach, Willie Desjardins admitted that his team was very fortunate to win. ''In third period they took it to us, but it was great to win'' he said.

On Monday, August 7th, at 6pm Russia and Canada will meet on the ice.
