Haven't we been here before?

For years, the Stanley Cup playoffs have been unpredictable. In 2006, who saw the Edmonton Oilers in the cup? Who saw the 2010 Montreal Canadiens upsetting the Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins AND Alex Ovechkin's Washington Capitals (Don't think Bettman has even started to forgive them)?

However, there are two constants in this topsy-turvy world of the playoffs: a Chicago and Phoenix overtime and a Boston Bruins series going to seven games.

Since we don't know how much long the Coyotes have in Phoenix, the Coyotes are making sure they get their money's worth of the time they have left.

As for the Bruins, something about a game seven must be attractive. En route to their Stanley Cup win last year, the Bruins did a seven game series against the Montreal Candiens, Tampa Bay Lightning and Vancouver Canucks. The only series that didn't last year was their sweep of the Philadelphia Flyers in round two, revenge for blowing a 3-0 series lead the previous year and falling in, you guessed it, game seven.

Call it a "never say die" attitude, call it inconsistency, the Boston Bruins are not only using their home ice advantage to its fullest but also giving the fans every chance they can to see them live.

Alas, even though these playoffs are as unpredictable as the weather, it's good to know there are some things that can be relied upon. Even the suspensions are inconsistent and sometimes irrelevant, it is great that we can count on a Bruins game seven and Coyotes/Blackhawks overtime to keep us grounded.
