Well we should have seen this coming. With the way this draft has gone, figures the Jackets would be another team to go well off the board. The Jackets went well off the board and selected Liam Foudy a centre from the London Knights.

Foudy was ranked by most scouting services as a mid-second round pick. He put up an uninspiring 40 points in 65 games. He's best and really only trait is his tremendous speed. He is a pure burner. Great first step and a high top speed. He can make plays at high speed but with only 40 points he has a ton of room still to grow.

This is a disappointing pick because it comes with such inherent risk. Foudy needs to have a massive breakout just to justify his draft position. This is the sort of player that if you really liked you should have traded down. He was unlikely to go in the first round. The Jackets would have been much better off moving down and grabbing Foudy in the second round.

Canucks Army had a great pre-draft write up on Foudy. They ranked him as their 80th ranked prospect.

Foudy is a really good athlete who crushed it at the combine. He is going to have a big role on the Knights next season so hopefully some added ice time will help boost his offensive totals.

Some fancy stats on Foudy, he had some good scoring chance numbers relative to his team but lacks way behind many others in the CHL.

His entry numbers as you expect are really really good. His offensive numbers are fine but again for a first round pick you want it to be at an elite level.
