UPDATE: The Hawks grab Canadian LHD Nicolas Beaudin with the 27th pick overall. Mark Lazerus reported that the Hawks were interested in this player a week ago. With Joe Veleno on the board, I thought he was the pick, but clearly they were set on the speedy and mobile dman.

The Hawks don't pick now until the 3rd round now.

I've been told there could be more activity on the trade front tomorrow from CHI's end.

UPDATE: The Chicago Blackhawks, with the 8th pick are proud to select... Adam Boqvist.

Shocked it wasn't Oliver Wahlstrom Wow. Sportsnet in Canada is saying they would have taken the bigger Dobson or Bouchard.

UPDATE: well, not much to report other than it appears that Bowman is not close to any trades as per his earlier report. I think there was a bit of posturing there though as I have heard from another source that they would love to move that 27th pick for a roster player... which happens to be a legit top-4 defenceman.

Also, I heard the search for a 1B/backup goalie is more likely to happen during free agency.

I anticipate a lot of activity from here on out this afternoon, during and after the draft.

This LIVE blog will be updated as "real-time" as possible. I will update the Hawks 8th and 27th picks, as well as any trade or rumours I hear along the way.

It was quiet on my end other than the Hawks interested in acquiring JVR rights and unloading Hossa's contract a few days ago.

However, in the last couple hours, I have heard that the Hawks ideal day/night would be to get a real solid pick at 8th (I'm hearing Wahlstrom or Tkachuk) and then acquire a top-4 defenceman by using that 27th pick.

I was also told to keep an eye on the teams without a 1st round pick, specifically Calgary, Tampa Bay and Pittsburgh as it relates to the Hawks as trading partners.

I will end with some speculation based on Bob McKenzie's comment on TSN1050 radio this morning that mentioned the Hawks are looking for a goalie (Grubaurer's name was tied to this). Coupled with Stan's (lack of) comments on Corey Crawford yesterday, I am now seeing the search for a goalie as a priority this off-season.

I would rank the off-season needs now as 1) top 4 defenceman 2) 1B goalie 3) Another Defenceman (veteran shutdown) / Centre (if Anisimov is traded post-July 1st)

Check back here for updates. The most recent reports will be at the top!

Buckle up, crew.
