Steve Pellegrini Joins The Lou Collective |

The NY Islanders announced today that Steve Pellegrini would be joining the NJ Devils... errr, NY Isles collective as an Assistant General Manager. He will work alongside current Assistant General Manager Chris Lamoriello, who handled the AHL oversight.
Pellegrini was considered a capologist and CBA guru when Lou Lamoriello hired him back in 2006 for the Devils. Lou needed help in disentangling himself out of some bad deals back then. Pellegrini was the Devils VP of Hockey Operations since that hiring.
Despite all the Mark Hunter talk, it seems that Lou is surrounding himself with many tools for himself. We might see Lou as that hands-on GM all the way through this season.
Which might mean someone like David Conte, who is currently Special Advisor to Hockey Operations in Las Vegas, could join the fold in some capacity to have oversight on scout and draft items.
Plus, we have yet to see any movement or decisions on Player Development, something that has lagged in Isles Country for a while now.
Chris Botta, of SNY,
wrote about expecting an announcement on the coach as soon as next week. Which does sound about right at Lou's speed and the fact that the NHL draft is a mere two weeks away.
So expect more announcements ahead.
