On possible change, Enstrom fallout & you be the GM

The Jets are due for some changes. Given the way the post season ended for Toby Enstrom and his departure from the city without a hint of media availability suggests he will not be back. More on him later. There should be other positions or openings too as while this roster was good, at times very good, it was perhaps not optimized for the best success it could have had. The other factor is the Jets are no longer a sleeper, they will be seen as a top 5 team heading into the season come October and to achieve that level there will likely be some changes.

This is where the readers come in. You be the GM and design your roster of what you see happening or what you want to happen for the next year.

You can do it two ways- use the roster builder feature on Cap Friendly

Or

Simply put your roster together with expected salaries for RFA and UFA players and build the team

If you want to make trades don't just swap out the player you traded for the one you want- explain how this deal happened with other players and draft picks and even add why.

The exercise here is that the Jets are about to enter the most crucial off season in their shot history. What Chevy does this offseason will shape what he can do in the future due to the salary cap and contracts that he is locked into due to conditions such as NTC or NMC.

He has to pay the right players the right amount of money with the right conditions so as he can continue to improve the team as time goes on and not end up like a Chicago or Montreal, where you cling to hope and all-stars. One team with 3 cups and one with none in the recent past.

That's a question to ask as you do this exercise- given Chevy's background with the Blackhawks organization will he see their approach as appealing if it puts his team having 3 possible championships in a similar period of time?

I will give you time to do this and you can PM me, or put the team in the comments section and I will assemble them and give them some grades and we can prepare a good old fashioned debate.

Enstrom

It's no secret he left town unhappy and disappointed and while there has been some speculation as to why some of the details have been left unknown. Like all things stuff seeps out. People who knew him and people who were part of the situation have begun to let some information seep out.

Enstrom's displeasure goes back further than the healthy scratch in game five. In his 43 games played this season he only played over 20 minutes in ice time twice. He was also injured for a significant amount of time and there is reason to believe he is unhappy with some of the conditions around those injuries. What has come out is that Enstrom is unhappy with the Jets as franchise and team. He told some within the organization that he "wanted out" or at the end of the season "wants out". Apparently there were some very bad feelings from Enstrom around treatment and the relationship changed.

What those specific issues are has not come out so it's speculation but word has come from trusted sources close to the team and player that this relationship has come to an end it it was not because of game five.

So don't put Enstrom on your team.
