Is Paul Fenton the Next Wild GM?

The longer this drags on with no decision as to who the next Wild GM will be, leads us all to believe that it is indeed going to be Nashville assistant GM, Paul Fenton.

With the Predators heading into game seven tonight in their epic second round series with the Jets tonight, Fenton has some more pressing issues at hand.

Nothing of course is etched in stone, but it is fun to speculate of course.

So if Fenton is in-fact, the choice, what will his first moves as GM of the Wild be?

Will he bring in his own coach right away or does he keep Bruce Boudreau in place for at least the time being? That is a huge question because one would think that if that were the case Boudreau would be in a position that he most likely can't win. The first sign of struggle and he would most likely be out and then what.

My thought is it is better for the Wild to have fresh faces at both the GM level and coaching staff level. Nothing whatsoever against Bruce Boudreau and the coaching staff, but since the new GM has no ownership to them he is less likely to extend the rope very far.

How quickly can the new GM acclimate himself to the Wild organization and their prospects as well as prepare for the upcoming draft.

It is very obvious that Craig Leipold is not ready for a rebuild so some wheeling and dealing is a must to move assets for assets and to work around the current cap situation.

The pending RFA situations of Matt Dumba and Jason Zucker will take precedent and a plan has got to be made in how they will fit into the cap moving forward.

If it is Paul Fenton, and Nashville wins tonight, will the decision be delayed even further?

It is a wait and see holding pattern, at a critical time as preparations need to be made sooner rather than later to avoid missed opportunities.
