At the beginning of the March Team Russia and SKA St.Petersburgh forward Ilya Kovalchuk announced that he would sell the BMW that he received from Russia for the gold at the 2018 Olympics and promising that all money made would go to charity.

The Russian star has kept his promise and his Instagram has announced that the vehicle has been successfully sold. As it has been reported - the money will be donated to a 13-year-old girl from Altai that needs help to buy a prosthetic and surgery due to a serious bone illness.

The recovery costs could reach about 2.7 million rubles (36,000 in euros), which the girls grandmother alone couldn't put together.

The new owner of BMW is no other than the Columbus Blue Jackets forward Artemi Panarin, who used to be Kovalchuk's teammate with SKA.

''I had put down some money, that I was going to use to help children in need. I didn't want to donate to an unknown charity organization, but I trust Ilya and know that the money will be spent correctly. The child that will receive help has already been found, and I know that everything will be good.'' said Panarin.
