Since the dawn of time, the Penguins and the Capitals have been meeting in the second round of the playoffs.

Crosby vs Ovechkin.

It never ends.

I believe that we'll just keep seeing this matchup again and again, purgatory style, until the Capitals finally win.

By my calculations, that should be sometime in the year 2099 when technology allows a cyborg Alex Ovechkin to finally prevail.

Last night the Capitals won their fourth straight.

They eliminated the Blue Jackets in style, winning 184 to 3. Again, Braden Holtby was the difference.

The Jackets controlled 65% of the game at 5v5, ended up with nine more scoring chances and ten more shots. But Holtby is pissed that he was passed over for games one and two and now has a save percentage of one billion.

This year, the Penguins are vulnerable. They have a banged up Malkin and Matt Murray is a bit overrated. Holtby is on fire and the Caps are due.

Seriously, it's bound to happen.

The Penguins are the better team (unlike last year when the Capitals were) and they are the favorites, despite the Capitals having home ice advantage (this is due to the fact that the Penguins were the NHL's lowest PDO team for most of the year, and got insanely unlucky despite having easily the best roster in hockey).

So due to terrible luck, the Penguins will be the rare favorite that starts on the road.

The Capitals can win - if Holtby continues to channel the spirit of Don Beaupre, which I think/hope he can.

Then again, Crosby appears to already have been outfitted as a cyborg cause the dude is playing completely out of his mind.

I feel like I'm having deja vu - someone call Denzel!!!!!!!!

Go Caps!!!!!!!
