Pavel Datsyuk will play at least one more year and it will be in the KHL it was announced on Tuesday morning.

His agent Dan Milstein sent out a tweet that stated:
Pavel Datsyuk signed a 1-year contract extension with KHL club SKA St. Petersburg. Presently, Pavel is with the Russian National Team preparing for the upcoming World Championship Games in Denmark.

There were rumors that the player would leave SKA to return home and play for his hometown Jekaterinburg Avtomobilist that hasn't been a huge powerhouse in the KHL. A player of Datsyuk's caliber would help improve clubs on-and-off ice product. However financially he would have to take a huge pay cut.

Meanwhile, the rumors that floated around that he would return to Detroit for at least another season can be put to bed entirely.

A source close to the team has indicated that Pavel Datsyuk has gotten a pay raise from his $3.9mil (base salary) contract he previously had. Bonus value expected to be the same.

Hockeybuzz reached out to the player's agent – who would not confirm the value of the contract.

39-year-old forward left NHL hockey league after 2015/2016 season and signed a two-year contract with KHL’s powerhouse SKA. In 81 games the team captain has scored 20 goals and 49 assists (valid for 69 points). He has won a Gagarin Cup and Olympic gold medal since departing from Detroit. Datsyuk is also expected to represent Russia at the 2018 IIHF World Championships.
