Selanne to Philly Update:

The wheels are in motion....that much is certain..I got more confirmation just now, to go along with sources in California I talked to last night...this very preliminary stuff, but I am still very confident in this rumour. It could fall apart or it could gain momentum, but I believe we are looking at something that may need up to two weeks to play out...

Fellow Hockeybuzz writer Bill Meltzer lends this perspective...

"I have no idea whether or not there's anything to Selänne coming to the Flyers, but I know for a fact the Flyers have had flirtations with acquiring him on at least three different past ocassions-- going all the way back to his draft year in 1988; the 1995-96 death march of the Jets (Chicago had signed Tkachuk to a big offer sheet, and Winnipeg could no longer afford Selänne: Paddock and Clarke absolutely discussed a Selänne to Philly trade, but Anaheim could offer Tverdovsky and Kilger, then considered can't miss prospects, and the Flyers didn't have comparable young, inexpensive players to offer... the Flyers ended up dealing for Falloon instead), and the 2000-01 season when he ended up going to San Jose. So there is some history behind this, even if nothing happens."

Souray

There are more rumours that Souray to San Jose is gaining momentum....And I still hear that Montreal is a player as well...The Islanders have a press conference scheduled for Monday to introduce their new signings and I have a strong source telling me that "a defenseman, that has not yet been acquired will likely be there as well." One source close to the Islanders believes that a current roster defenseman could be dealt to make this happen...Also, do not count out Jovonavski yet...Apparently it is not as dead as it was after the Isles acquired Guerin and Comrie,

Habs and Oil talking to Lightning

Speaking of Montreal and Edmonton, there are rumours that each team are talking to Tampa regarding a trade that could take place today I am told...no names have been leaked, but it does NOT include any of the big name players...Montreal is also still exploring Patrick Marleau as an option..

Vancouver

In Vancouver there continue to be rumours of a deal that would include Morrison and Ohlund for Elias and White. There would be other players involved as well...

Is Parise Next?

One GM called it Lowe-ism to me, but yesterday's offer sheet really shook the NHL to its core...Many teams are really worried about their RFA's. I believe that that the next target for Edmonton is Mr Parise in NJ...It will be really interesting to see how that is handled by Lou?

An Offer Sheet for Avery

CORRECTION: AVERY filed for Arbitration...so this is not possible...I misunderstood my source, who told me that there was lots of interest in Avery meaning that if the Rangers walk away from the ruling he will get picked up in a second...

#88

I am hearing that the Canucks are now among the teams that have an interest in Eric Lindros....as do the Sabres believe it or not...

"I was just Yashin you"

Sorry with sleep deprivation come bad puns...The Leafs are working hard to move Raycroft and sign Yashin...The Coyotes are the logical fit..

"Lock your Trash Cans, The Coyotes are loose"

So what are the Yotes doing? It is working out pretty well actually...Move Jovo, Morris, and Reinprecht out for solid picks and prospects, and then take on other team's Cap space...aka...Raycroft, Gauthier, and an Ottawa player to be named later

More to come for certain..

So all this talk of money and losing and gaining players have you down?
