Taking a look at the few teams that you can etch the word “seller” in stone, here are the players who will be the most mentioned names between now and March 1.

Sportsnet’s Nick Kypreos on Hockey Night In Canada’s Saturday Headlines reports that the return of Alex Galchenyuk in Montreal may free up Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin to move out veteran center Tomas Plekanec if he does not step up his play.

THE BUZZ : The 34-year-old center has a year left on a two-year, $12 Million contract and has only three goals in 40 games. Those facts make it more likely that Bergevin is looking to dump the final year of the veteran forward’s deal so he has more cap room to add some depth at the deadline and possibly sign Alexander Radulov to an extension.

From Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun’s Sunday column

Tampa Bay Lightning GM Steve Yzerman has been looking around for a forward. He’s pretty patient so he won’t rush into anything but you have to wonder if the heat is being turned up on coach Jon Cooper in a big way. The Bolts didn’t look very good in their 4-2 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers Saturday afternoon and they remain on the outside of the NHL’s playoff picture. Sooner or later something is going to have to give because the Bolts look disjointed.

THE BUZZ : The Lightning are just two points behind third-place Ottawa in the Atlantic, and that has been without Steven Stamkos and playing subpar hockey for most of the first half.

Yzerman has $8.5 Million in cap space available with Stamkos being placed on LTIR and normally would patiently wait for the best deal to come around, but his club needs a boost and that may instigate the Tampa GM to make a deal well in advance of the trade deadline.

The word is (Bruins GM Don Sweeney) wouldn’t mind making a deal for a blueliner as well and the name of forward Ryan Spooner as possible trade bait is still out there. Unfortunately for Sweeney, there’s several teams looking for help on the back end.

THE BUZZ : Boston have been without veteran John-Michael Liles due to concussion problems and other than Torey Krug, have no blueliner with more than 10 points. Spooner is an RFA after this season and after scoring 49 points in 15-16 will be demanding a significant pay increase that Sweeney may not want to pay.
