The Calgary Flames have made a couple more cuts in effort of getting down to the 23-man roster limit.

Forward Linden Vey, who signed a one-year deal with the Flames in the summer, and defenseman Tyler Wotherspoon have been placed on waivers. One would assume they'll be sent to AHL Stockton if they clear waivers, which seems very likely.

Vey hasn't been overly impressive in the preseason and he struggled mightily in Vancouver last season in terms of both production and possession. Perhaps off-ice dealings have impacted his play on the ice but either way he didn't show enough to be worth keeping around.

Wotherspoon being cut isn't exactly a shock, either. In a very small sample size Brett Kulak has performed well with the big club when given the chance and I think he has a brighter future at the NHL level.

Veteran Nicklas Grossman has also been given a long look in camp - likely due to Glen Gulutzan's history with him in Dallas - so he figured to have the leg up on Wotherspoon as well.

I think Kulak should be the guy the Flames hold onto when they finalize their roster but, given Gulutzan's history with Grossman and the Flames' love of grit, I wouldn't be shocked if he sticks around.

We'll find out if that's the case within the next few days.
