Heard from a trusted source in Canada it is a "100% done deal."
Talking to players tonight who played with him over in the worlds, they couldn't say nicer things about this guy.
"Not only is he a great player, he is an even better person."
"There is no question that this will be a huge addition for the Hawks organization for years and years to come," another player added
"The city will immediately fall in love with this guy."...Another player said, "I have seen very few guys that make the players around him better, I mean really better, but Jonathan does."
However, do not expect this deal to be announced right away. The Hawks normally don't have off-season PCs unless it is a big, big deal. This is great news and a big deal, so the Hawks wouldn't put news out like this after the 5pm news.
I also talked to Grand Forks Herald beat writer Brad Elliott Schlossman, who is a great guy and
very inside the ND Hockey scene whospoke with Toews tonight who is home in Winnipeg Toews denied that the deal is done..
There are a ton of rumors flying around tonight, but I have been told in the last hour again that the terms are "more than agreed to," sowe will see when this is announced.
Schlossman agreed that this is a very difficult decision for Toews, whose fellow Sioux teammates obviously want the star to return.
The Hawks obviously want Jonathan signed now and in Chicago ASAP to get him with their trainers, and right now after Jonathan proved he canplay with NHLers and look completely in place his value could NOT be higher.
So the pressure is there, but it is quite the testament to the person that Toews is that he has had such a tough time leaving his teammates in ND. A NHLplayer I spoke with tonight agreed saying, "I haven't met a kid at his age with his confidence, determination and humility. We'd love to have him in our locker room."
The Hawks also made a great signing today of a new assistant coach, John Torchetti away from Moncton...on a story today on OurSportsCentral.com said this tonight...
"If this wasn't such a great opportunity I would have been happy to stay in Moncton and continue to work with Mr. Irving to bring another championship to this great community," he said. "Chicago recently signed Jonathan Toews, who at only 19, had an unbelievable tournament at the World Championships, and they have first pick in the upcoming draft, so it is similar to the rebuilding that I was part of in Tampa a few years ago."
