The Buffalo Sabres are suddenly sick and injured. Multiple players are suffering from "flu like conditions".

Tyler Myers is questionable to make the trip to Boston tonight after suffering a lower body injury in the 5-1 loss to Colorado. Ted Nolan said in his postgame presser that the Sabres will have to call up a forward and a D-man from Rochester for the date with the Bruins on Sunday night. Nolan also added that several of his players are experiencing "flu like symptoms". When asked if his team is experiencing a mumps outbreak Nolan said that that the team is looking into all possibilities.

"I’m not too sure,” Nolan said.“The medical team will look at that. Right now they’re just flu-like symptoms I guess. A few guys were feeling that way.”

Pat Kaleta will not travel to Boston. He has been ruled out for Sunday's game.

Nolan went to Rochester to watch the Amerks on Friday night. He will have to decide between Mark Pysyk and Jake McCabe as D call-ups. I'm partial towards McCabe. I'll bet that Mark Pysyk and Tim Schaller will get the call.

I also want to see the Sabres call up Joel Armia for the Boston game.

Mike Weber is making great progress after having a knee scope procedure and he may be re-activated for the Boston game. Tyson Strachan is also available to play.

Frankly, I don't care that Nikita was -3 against the Avs. Nor am O upset that Rasmus Ristolainen was -2.

Zadorov's physicality more than makes up for it

Tyler Myers has suffered a lower body injury and will not return tonight.

Will he travel to Boston? We shall see shortly.

Buffalo Sabres defenseman Tyler Myers left the game in the second period with an undisclosed injury.

Myers skated 16 shifts for 13:30 TOI. He blocked a shot and landed on hit.

The Sabres have move Nic Deslauriers from his winger position back to D to cover for Myers who was not on the Buffalo bench in the final; 6 minutes of the second period. Deslauriers played defense in AHL Manchester and was converted to a winger last season.

The Sabres lost winger Pat Kaleta to an injury in the second period when he slammed back and head first into the wall adjacent to the Zamboni doors. Kaleta was trying to convert on a 2-1 down low scoring chance. He rammed the boards at a high rate of speed and was seen checking his mouth area for blood and perhaps a loose tooth/teeth.

He takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'.

More to come.....

The Buffalo Sabres have called up forward Johan Larsson from AHL Rochester.

Matt Moulson was sick and the team sent him home from the rink. The team hasn't commented on the nature of the illness. One wonders if Moulson is suffering from the mumps virus, or if its a common cold. The team hasn't commented yet on Moulson's situation.

The first thing that came to mind when I learned of Moulson's sickness was: "Does he have the mumps virus that is running rampant through the NHL right now"? There have been 17 confirmed cases of the mumps identified by the NHL. The latest player to be diagnosed was Pittsburgh Penguins D Olli Maata who was diagnosed on Friday. The NY Rangers, Anaheim Ducks, Minnesota Wild, and St. Louis Blues have also had players diagnosed with the mumps in recent weeks. The Colorado Avalanche played in Pittsburgh on Thursday night. When Sidney Crosby was diagnosed with the virus last week, the NHL started to take the mumps outbreak seriously. When the face of the NHL contracted mumps the awareness and defense against it went to a whole new level.

One wonders Why would the team send him home from the rink unless he was contagious. There are many nights that players get scratched from the lineup and put the suit on and head up here to the press box. One thing to note is that due to a local radio station's annual Christmas concert in their building, the Sabres were forced to practice on Thursday and Friday at the HARBORCenter which is adjacent to the First Niagara Center. In fact, several of the Sabres walked to work on Friday. Its convenient. and close. However, its a public building and ever since it opened in November, the place is always busy with youth hockey tourneys, Canisius College hockey, and the Junior Sabres games. There is no way for the Sabres training staff to maintain the quality of control of the sanitizing process that occurs on a daily basis in the team's state-of-the-art locker room.

The Sabres players and coaches have been vaccinated against the virus in the past week.

On Thursday, Moulson and his teammates visited Buffalo's Veterans Administration Hospital.

Moulson has scored 7 goals and chipped in 8 helpers in 32 games played this season. He has been red hot lately as his line mates Tyler Ennis and Zemgus Girgensons have been feeding him the puck. Moulson is averaging 17:13 TOI per game.

The Sabres play in Boston on Sunday night and in Detroit on Tuesday night. Then, the NHL goes dark until Boxing Day in observance of the Christmas holiday.

Will Moulson be joing his teammates on the charter to Boston after tonight's game?

We will learn more after the game when Ted Nolan speaks with media.

Check back for updates.
