I will have much more to write about this and will discuss this during the podcast in depth, but a source I trust connected with Edmonton has informed me that Craig MacTavish is "very temporary" and new coach will be behind the bench sooner than later. The only reason Craig is behind the bench is "an attempt to see the core at its fundamental level."

I am also told the likelihood is Edmonton will look to a veteran coach to bring this group out of the malaise..."Todd [Nelson] is not here to be an assistant, but after MacT sees what's happening that is possible still" the source said. MacTavish has said that Nelson is likely to be named head coach after this transition....my source is not convinced completely.

Meanwhile teams are intensifying their circling in the waters around the Oilers core, and one team who has been the most vocal is Montreal who wants Eberle "in the worst way."
