Cowan the Brabarian lives on

Just to follow up on my previous blog where I said I was disappointed Canucks fans didn't throw a bra on the ice when Jeff Cowan scored against the Avalanche.

Threads on canucks.com have claimed some fans did try throwing lingerie from the upper deck but the bras didn't make it to the ice. Some said they had them confiscated at the gates by security before the game, too.

Sweet. I'm glad the effort was there, and so are some of the Canuck players. I was in the dressing room yesterday talking to Cowan about something unrelated and another player walked by and said with a smile, "Make sure you tell everyone Cowan was choked there were no bras on the ice!"

I told Jeff I think the fans are waiting for him to score two. He just laughed. Speaking of Cowan, he'll be on a line with Markus Naslund and Bryan Smolinski tonight.

Did you guys see the story on Sportsnet this morning where Martin Brodeur said he'd pick Sid to win the MVP?

Someone should ask Sidney Crosby the same question. Has this been done yet? Does anyone have a link where Sid weighs in? It's almost a given that when Roberto Luongo gets back from this two day trip he's going to be asked the same question, if not before then. Sid could hold the 'unofficial' swing vote because I'm pretty sure Luongo won't pick Brodeur.

But then again, maybe we don't want to hear what Sid has to say because he didn't get past the Rocky Mountains this year.

Sami Salo joins Willie Mitchell back in the lineup tonight versus the Av's - meaning Alexander Edler has been reassigned back to the Manitoba Moose.

The Canucks are going to have to play at level 10 on the jacked up dial to keep up with the buzzing Av's tonight. I don't expect anything less, especially after watching Alain Vigneault and his staff work their team on the ice yesterday before their flight. I've never heard the coaches be so vocal - they were really letting the guys hear it.

It'll be a tough test in a hostile environment, but the Canucks have always been able to bounce back from poor outings. The clinching game into the playoffs is so close, I just want them to get it over with and take the two points. The sooner the better.
