Today is a sad day for hockey fans, as one of the best has passed away; Pat Quinn at 71. All the best to his close friends and family…he truly was a legend and will be missed by everyone in the hockey world. In my lifetime Quinn was certainly the best Maple Leafs coach, no question about it. Pat coached for 20 NHL seasons with five different teams; he also won the Jack Adams Award twice as the NHL’s best coach. In 78-79 Quinn was coaching the Flyers and recorded a record of a whopping 35 wins in a row! The NHL wasn’t the only level that Quinn coached as he also coached the Canadian team in 2002 at the Olympics and team Canada in the world junior championships in 2009 where his team was undefeated. It goes without saying that Pat Quinn was not only a good hockey player, but an incredible coach and general manager but also a great leader for everyone to look up to. He was truly a man who had a lot of class and integrity and touched many lives in the hockey world.

Here is a list of which teams have how many games going forward this week:

(2) Games: Arizona – Boston – Montreal – San Jose – Tampa Bay – Toronto

(3) Games: Anaheim – Buffalo – Calgary – Carolina – Chicago – Colorado – Columbus – Dallas – Edmonton – Florida – Los Angeles – Nashville – New Jersey – New York Rangers – St. Louis – Vancouver – Washington – Winnipeg

(4) Games: Detroit – Minnesota – New York Islanders – Ottawa – Philadelphia – Pittsburgh

Looking at some hot hands over the last couple of week, perhaps you are in need of adding a free agent or two.

(ARI) Devan Dubnyk: 1.3GAA, .964 save%, 3 wins, 1 shutout
(NYR) Cam Talbot : 0 GAA, 1.000 save %, 1 win, 1 shutout

It’s important to key in on starting goalies throughout the week. This is why I try to post daily who is starting…you might be able to pick up a backup goalie for 1 night when he plays versus a team that is struggling. In head to head matchups this can make or break your week, so be sure to make wise decisions when it comes to picking up a backup for the night.

Starting Goalies:

(PIT) Fleury VS (BOS) Rask
(PHI) Mason VS (NYI) Halak
(OTT) Anderson VS (DET) Howard
(MIN) Backstrom VS (FLA) Luongo

HBSL:

Things are starting to tighten up in the HockeyBuzz SuperLeague as we enter week 8. Be sure to get your picks in before the first game starts tonight. There are 10 teams total in the pool who are still undefeated at 7-0. No, I am not one of them; but I have won three of my last 4 weeks and barely squeeked out a win this week due to the Rangers vs. Buffalo game getting cancelled. Luckily for me, Lundqvist got a shutout and the Rangers put in a bunch of goals. Literally, I was 100 points back before Sunday started; talk about an epic comeback!

Best of luck in your fantasy hockey this week, feel free to leave any questions or ideas in the comments section as I am more than happy to input my two cents.

Thanks again for reading.
