The Leafs have placed Matt Frattin on waivers, but that is not enough to distract a fanbase which is completely and utterly grabbing their pitchforks and torches.

Losing the Nashville Predators 9-2 is so symbolic on so many levels that the game may not have only been the straw that broke the camel's back, but is more like feeding the camel c4 explosives.

The Leafs on the surface aren't nearly as bad as they looked last night. That is a given, but even though they are better than they were last year they aren't nearly far enough along to give any solace to a fanbase which lost its mind three rebuilds ago.

It's really bad. REALLY bad.

Glen Healy is suggesting benching Phil Kessel next game to send a message. That would be like throwing out hundred dollar bills to teach your kids about how not to waste money. It wouldn't work and you would be wasting even more money.

But the Leafs have something going for them. Something everyone else wants. They have defensive depth...the question is do they have the ability to take some very good offensive defenders and flip them for the kinds of players they really need?

I am told by a very good source that the Leafs are holding some huge "monumental" type meetings over the next 24-48 hours to come to a consensus.....a consensus that may require fixing the vote by changing some of the people involved.

We will discuss this and more on today's Buzzcast...
