The Isles faced the Tampa Bay Lightening at the Amalie Arena after squeaking out a win against the Florida Panthers. The Isles started out well as Brock Nelson scored at the 7:41 mark. Brock is the real deal. A minute later Ryan Callahan evened the score. It would be the first of five goals Chad Johnson would give up.
Josh Bailey scored at the 11:22 mark and that would be the last time an Islander would get a puck passed Ben Bishop.
There were a few observations from my couch and Twitter:
Kyle Okposo misses the net -- a lot.
Ryan Strome’s penalty gave the Bolts a 5 on 3 opportunity. They capitalized on it and quickly Filppula tied the game at two.
With less than five minutes remaining in the first, Paquette scored the Bolts third of the period. While Johnson may have been screened a little, you could see that goal coming a mile away.
Brock Nelson spoke with Shannon Hogan after the first period saying the Bolts had “Skill up front.” And they needed to “Stay out of box and don’t give them chances .”

It was a bad night for Johnson.
Okposo hit the cross bar mid way through the second. Leddy had a great shot, but Bishop caught it with ease. He made 25 saves on 27 shots.

Travis Hamonic was the second interview for Ms. Hogan. “We shouldn’t be. We’re not the first team in the NHL to have to play back-to-backs. We have to create more traffic in front of Bishop. He’s a monster.”
Ben Bishop, at 6’7” is the tallest goalie in the NHL.
