MINI-PREVIEW: STARS @ ISLANDERS
Looking to earn their fourth straight win on the road and third straight win overall, the Dallas Stars (4-1-2) pay a visit to Long Island to take on the New York Islanders (5-2-0) on Saturday night. Game time is 6:00 p.m. CDT. The game will be televised locally on Fox Sports Southwest.
This is the first of two meetings between the teams this season. The clubs will rematch at the American Airlines Center in Dallas on March 3.
The Stars are in action for the second time in as many nights. The club is coming off a 3-2 shootout win against the shootout-deficient Devils in Newark on Friday night. With Kari Lehtonen having started in net on Friday, Anders Lindbäck is expected to make his second start of the season in tonight's game. In the meantime, the Islanders are coming off a 3-2 road win against the Boston Bruins on Thursday, halting a two-game losing skid.
MINI-SYNOPSIS: STARS 3- Devils 2 (SO)
The Stars captured a 3-2 shootout win over the Devils on Friday to kick off their two-game mini-trip to the New York metropolitan area. Team captain Jamie Benn and Patrick Eaves scored second-period goals for Dallas. In the shootout, Jason Spezza and Benn scored to run the Stars' record to 4-0-1 over the last five games.
