With 14 forwards signed to one-way contracts and the team still hoping to re-sign Ryan Carter, the Devils need to ship out a forward.
One name mentioned as a possible trade candidate is Damien Brunner, who showed flashes last year but never became a consistent offensive threat.
Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun wrote this morning that the Senators are in the market for a top-9 forward, and Brunner is a name out there they could target.
Via the Ottawa Sun: "League sources say the forwards available at the moment include Carolina’s Alexander Semin, New Jersey’s Damien Brunner along with Buffalo’s Drew Stafford and Chris Stewart."
After the Devils signed Mike Cammalleri and Martin Havlat I wrote that the Devils weren't done, and that it's a matter of not if but when they move someone out, so it's hardly surprising Brunner's name is being floated out there.
Brunner has some upside and gets around the ice in a hurry, so I think he could be a good fit in Ottawa's up-tempo system should a trade be made.
Just another thing to watch as we approach training camp.
