The Devils are set to open training camp in two weeks time, and as of now there will be three players invited on a tryout basis.
Those players are Tomas Kaberle, Scott Gomez and 31-year-old KHL defenseman Renat Makashev,
who I reported will be at camp last night.
Ryan Carter, who is still without a contract, will also be there and my expectation is he will sign with the Devils at some point. They'll have to move a forward or two out first, though.
While it's possible another player or two are invited, the Devils main training camp roster currently looks as follows:
* unsigned
Forwards (23): Mike Cammalleri, Travis Zajac, Darcy Zajac, Jaromir Jagr, Patrik Elias, Adam Henrique, Martin Havlat, Ryane Clowe, Dainius Zubrus, Damien Brunner, Tuomo Ruutu, Stephen Gionta, Michael Ryder, Ryan Carter*, Jacob Josefson, Steve Bernier, Tim Sestito, Rod Pelley, Cam Janssen, Mike Sislo, Ben Johnson, Ben Thomson, and Scott Gomez*.
Defensemen (10): Andy Greene, Jon Merrill, Bryce Salvador, Marek Zidlicky, Eric Gelinas, Adam Larsson, Pete Harrold, Damon Severson, Renat Makashev*, and Tomas Kaberle*.
Goaltenders (6): Cory Schneider, Scott Clemmensen, Keith Kinkaid, Scott Wedgewood, Maxime Clermont, and Anthony Brodeur.
Reid Boucher, Stefan Matteau and co. weren't on the roster I got my hands on, which leads me to believe there's another group of players including Joe Whitney, Graham Black and a collection of others that will also be at camp.
Time will tell, but those listed above will certainly be there.
