When Sonny Milano decided to join the OHL's Plymouth Whalers rather than head to Boston College, many assumed he'd soon put pen to paper on a contract with Columbus.
That doesn't appear to be the case, though, as the two sides have reportedly not even discussed an entry-level deal,
according to MiHockeyNow.com.
“Maybe a strong start or a strong season will get me that contract, but there hasn’t been any talks yet,” confirmed Milano. “When I was drafted, Columbus said they had no preference one way or the other, that both the OHL and Boston College were good routes. They basically left it up to us to decide as a family.”
As Milano suggested, if he performs at a high level it probably won't take too long for the Blue Jackets to table a contract offer.
He's obviously extremely talented, and Plymouth is expected to be pretty good in 2014-15, so it seems likely he'll succeed.
