11:45 am: See way below regarding ticket sales.

The New York Islanders used their newest venture into social media apps to show off their commemorative logo for the final year at the Coliseum. The Islanders are now on SnapChat. I thought that was an app you used to send unsavory photos or conversations you didn't want your parents to see, but okay. They're on it. Not sure if that means they have ended their association with SportsYapper or not. Then again, I'm not sure SportsYapper even exists any more. Anyone use it? Anyone?

So, piece by piece the Isles unveiled their new logo to the world and immediately received feedback. Which is what they were looking for. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BvlqK_gIAAA6d7m.jpg

The blue, orange and white logo will be very easy to recreate as a patch which will grace their jerseys this season. Commemorative pucks will be available at the team store and I'm sure we'll see variations of this logo on lots of other items collectors will scoop up.

But where is the love for the NVMC? Those four cartoon looking cups sit attop what looks like a podium, but it's actually the Coliseum. They couldn't squeeze in NVMC somewhere on it? Especially since it won't be the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum after this season. Something the Veteran's groups are not very happy with. They could have at least given the building a little more recognition.

The patch is a sad statement if not exclamation point on how Nassau/ToH/republican leadership screwed over the fanbase

Ouch. So true. But, after all, asbestos and all, the building has been good to us.

Along with complaints over the building not getting a proper representation, there were even fans complaining that the Isles should move away from their "Dynasty" fixation. They say they've heard enough; it's ancient history.

To those people I say -- WHAT??? There will never be another Dynasty in the 'new' NHL. The four cups is what makes the NY Islanders unique and is something that DOES need to be preserved.

Just as Woodstock was nothing but a three day music and traffic jam, I love the fact that everything about it has been preserved at Bethel Woods. I am hoping and praying that the Ratner group does the same thing in a renovated arena there in Uniondale.

History should be preserved. That bleak stretch of asphalt was a place of magic. It should be remembered that way, now and forever.

Hey, at least someone isn't afraid to say they like it!

Personally, I think the #Isles shoulder patch is perfect. I love the cups sitting on top of the coliseum, and the original colors. Well done

Sideboard: Okay, so the real deal is this:

The New York Islanders announced today that individual game tickets for the first half of the 2014-15 season will go on sale to the general public, Tuesday, Sept. 2. All fans will have the chance to purchase individual game tickets starting at 10 a.m. at the Nassau Coliseum Box Office or online through www.newyorkislanders.com
.

If you are looking for tickets to a Ranger game, you'll have to wait until the SECOND half of the season's tickets are on sale -- if there are any left from STHs and partial plan holders. That also goes for the final game of the season.

In order to get special pricing and deals for GROUP sales, they are a two pack plan. Nothing wrong with that. Two games for the price of one. So get a group together and go.

Hey... Look... We're talking about hockey again. With the cool breeze comes thoughts of pucks and ice. And pumpkin Lattes.
