Thomas Hickey: Back on Long Island

Last week it was Brock Nelson. This week, it's Thomas Hickey's turn to be back on Long Island and be the man about town.

Today he will skate with young hockey players at a local rink, and tonight at 6 pm, he will be signing autographs at the Isles team store at the Coliseum.

The Isles claimed Hickey off the waiver wire in January of 2013 and signed him to a 2-year contract in July of that year after he played 39 games for them. Last season he played all 82, had 96 shots and was a plus 5. While the scouting report on Hickey was that he wasn't a good enough size for the blue line, they also noted he would be a good puck-moving defenseman with 'an upside.' His ability to play 20 minutes a night is probably one of them.

This coming season will be his third in the NHL and the future looks bright.
