I honestly can't believe its July 16th. I can never remember a day in mid-July where I have gotten more texts and more calls regarding a player like I have in the last 16 hours regarding Evander Kane. The price for Kane is extremely high, but that is not stopping teams from asking and considering their options.

The Canadiens and Rangers have been sniffing around for a while now, but the Lightning and Predators are new to the dance. The Preds and Habs "appear" to be the most serious, but I can't stress enough that is just from my sources.

I would bet if I was talking to other sources, some now on vacation and harder to get a hold of, I might be getting a different scenario.

The Jets aren't taking this lightly though and appear to be really playing this well. We haven't heard Kane has asked for a trade (we also haven't heard he hasn't) and despite Kane's actions giving the appearance he might want out(and all of us in the media speculating those actions are hurting his value), I honestly can't find anyone out there telling me his value has been negatively affected one iota.

The closest I can come to any casual relationship may be a few teams who once were considering him an option are(for now at least)on the perimeter...namely Philly and Buffalo.

That being said, I have for the first time put the chances of Evander Kane staying in Winnipeg below 50% on my Rumor Chart. That is just my gut though. My instincts are the Jets deep down want to be rid of distraction before training camp.

One source added, "The Jets need to get back something they can sell..or if they don't, they need an immediate second deal that would bring in a big ticket player.."

Joe Thornton?

Stay tuned...it's only a beautiful summer mid-July..what else should we be doing?
