Sharks smell blood leading LA three games to none

"It ain't over till it's over" is arguably the most famous quote from Hall of Fame baseball catcher, Yogi Berra.

And as Sharks fans know all too well, they can't feel comfortable until they've gotten four wins against the Kings.

But it looks good for Team Teal leading the series three games to none after a thrilling 4-3 win in overtime with the game winner coming from Patrick Marleau 6:20 into the extra session.

This time, the Kings played much stronger defensively and they were the team to generate odd man rushes. But the Sharks certainly got some puck luck to beat LA once again, beginning with the first goal of the game.

All that means though is that the Sharks need one win while the Kings need to go on a four game win streak. But like in a hockey game, one goal at a time and the Kings are too dangerous and talented for the Sharks to think they can take their foot off the gas pedal.

Turning point

The game tying goal from Tomas Hertl sending the game to overtime.

Game highlights

Contenders

Tomas Hertl - his tenacity and determination to take three whacks at the puck until it was in the net was incredible. The Sharks haven't had a player with his skill and enthusiasm since perhaps Jeff Friesen.

Patrick Marleau - the franchise leader in goals scored, how can you not put him on this list when he scores the game winner.

Matt Nieto - the Southern California native scores his first goal of the playoffs redirecting Jason Demers shot from the point.

Pretenders

Jarret Stoll - for his interference penalty on Logan Couture, taking him out while heading into the team bench, I mean what a cheap shot. Fortunately for the Kings, the Sharks didn't score on the power play.

LA Kings Twitter - For not tweeting the final score. Win or lose, you have to give the score. What's up with that?

Notes

The last time the Kings trailed 0-3 in a series was 2000 vs. Detroit. This was the first overtime playoff game since April 25, 2011 when Joe Thornton's game winner eliminated the Kings from the playoffs. ... The Kings are now 23-26 all-time in overtime in the playoffs ... Teams combined for 98 hits tonight (312 in the series)

Game four is at Staples Center, faceoff is at 7:30 PM.

Keep your head up,
